“Raising little NZ throughout a pandemic added a whole other level of anxiety to new parenthood, but doing it isolated from close family due to fear of contracting or spreading Covid added another. Any severe bronchial issues I faced with my asthma, or fatigue I experienced as a side effect of sleepless nights with an infant were often misattributed as a symptom of Covid. Although I did everything in my power to protect myself, and had been fortunate to test negative, the anxiety still remained until I knew I could take the measure I deemed most imperative to ensure the safety of my family and community. As we are now a year in lockdown, I can say that I’ve taken that measure, and got the #covid19vaccine. I am beyond grateful to have been able to do this for myself, my family and those that I encounter. I hope that when the opportunity arises many will do the same.”
